We aim to make the Brompton the bike of choice for anyone wanting a proper, practical bike which is also super-compact, but we realise that not everyone will need a bike that both rides well over long distances and folds this compactly.
Some of the mini-bikes now on the market offer a very small (if not necessarily practical or light) folded package, sometimes at a relatively low price, but they are usually intended for occasional use or for only the shortest of errands. At the other end of the spectrum, there are plenty of mountain bikes, multi-geared small wheelers, even tandems and purpose-built touring bikes, that fold in half for more convenient carriage or storage. We would not expect anyone looking for such features to opt for a Brompton.
While we believe that the Brompton offers the best combination of ride, build quality and portability, not everyone's needs are the same. The last thing we want is an unhappy Brompton owner and, as a company more concerned with customer satisfaction than sales, we recommend you test ride a Brompton at one of our dealers before committing to a purchase. And with so many folding bikes on the market, each with their own character and purpose, we invite you to find out a little more about (at least some of) them.
